Airtel And Vodafone-idea Lose Over 94 lakh Customers

Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea continue to lose their subscriber base, with a similar situation continuing in May when these companies reduced 56.11 lakh wireless subscribers in total. On the other hand, the number of customers of Reliance Jio is continuously increasing, according to the latest report, Jio has added more than 36.577 lakh new subscribers. Surprisingly, apart from Jio, the number of wireless subscribers has also increased with BSNL. 2 lakh subscribers are associated with BSNL. These disclosures have been made in the latest telecom subscription data of TRAI. According to this data, by the end of April, the number of wireless subscribers had decreased by 114.952 crores in total, although in May this figure stood at 114.391 crores.

As per the TRAI report, Bharti Airtel has lost 47.428 lakh subscribers in May, while Vodafone Idea has lost 47.263 lakh subscribers. It means, Vodafone Idea and Airtel have lost more than 94 lakh subscribers in just one month. Both telecom companies have suffered more losses this month than they did in April, with 7.5 million wireless subscribers falling in April. But this time the figure is 94 lakhs. Ever since Reliance Jio has stepped into the telecom sector, both these companies are continuously losing their market share.

Reliance Jio has a market share of 34.33 percent, while Bharti Airtel comes second in this list with a market share of 27.78 percent and Vodafone Idea has a market share of 27.09 percent. BSNL comes at number four in this list, which has a market share of 10.50 percent.

Talking about broadband, the number of subscribers in this segment has increased to 67.614 crores by the end of April and in May this figure is 68.377 crore. In this sense, the broadband segment has seen 1.13 percent monthly growth.

In the wireless segment, Jio has 39.275 crore subscribers, while Airtel is second with 14.355 million subscribers. Vodafone Idea has 11.305 million subscribers. While BSNL tops the wired segment with 24.1 lakh subscribers, Atria Convergence Technologies has 16.4 lakh subscribers and Hathway and Jio have 9.7 lakh subscribers.
