The Department of Telecommunication has launched a portal at tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in . This webpage has a database of all active mobile phone numbers in the country. It is hoped that by using this gateway, spam and fraud would be reduced. If you suspect that someone else is using a SIM card in your name, you can file a complaint using this website and the department will take a prompt action.

How to check?

  • To begin, visit tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in on your mobile phone, laptop, or computer’s browser. Then, input your ten-digit mobile phone number. An OTP will now be sent to your phone number. Validate the OTP by entering it.
  • You will receive a complete list of all the numbers that are active in your name after validating the OTP. You can report any of them whenever it is convenient for you. After then, the authorities will look into the numbers that are associated with your phone number and for which you have filed a complaint.
  • At the moment, tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in is only available in a few circles. It will soon be available in all circles. A maximum of nine numbers can be active on a single ID, but if you notice a number in your name that you are not using, you can complain about it. The government will then put a stop to that number.
