Detailed specifications of Xiaomi 13 Pro

Design and build quality

The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a very premium design and finish that is lacking in originality and can appear dated. The curved screen + glossy back combination is unappealing.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is available in two colour options: Ceramic White and Ceramic Black. The coating gives the appearance of a transparent shell on the back.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro has Gorilla Glass Victus on both the front and back, and it is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The screen has curved edges, and the frame is made of aluminium.

The massive camera module is located in the back, arranged in a square island at the top left. It has silk-screened demarcation lines to separate the various camera lenses and the flash.

Display of Xiaomi 13 Pro

The screen is always one of Xiaomi smartphones’ strong points. The Xiaomi 13 Pro performs admirably with its 6.73-inch Oled panel, which has a 2K (QHD+) resolution of 1440 x 3200p, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a maximum brightness of 1900 nits (peak).

The Xiaomi 13 Pro’s display is unquestionably the brightest on the market today. And the maximum brightness of 1,900 nits is only possible at peak. In other words, this only happens on a small portion of the screen. Xiaomi claims to reach 1,200 nits in HBM (at maximum brightness).

The Xiaomi 13 Pro’s front-facing screen, with a close-up of the notch centred at the top of the AMOLED panel.

Because of the embedded LTPO technology, the refresh rate can range from 1 to 120 Hz. But, like all other smartphones with LTPO panels, I never got to see that famous 1 Hz in action. In addition to the QHD+ resolution, Xiaomi’s AI image engine has several modes for improving image quality.

Interface/OS

The Xiaomi 13 Pro runs MIUI 14, the company’s new Android 13-based overlay, and will receive three Android updates as well as five years of security updates.

MIUI 14 is now officially available, and its rollout on Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco smartphones is about to begin. I’m going to put Xiaomi’s new Android 13 overlay through its paces.

For the time being, MIUI 14 does not bring any significant visual or functional changes. A couple of new widgets have appeared. The home screen customization menu appears to have been updated with a more visually appealing and colourful interface.

Among the other notable features introduced by MIUI 14 is an improvement to the windowed mode. By opening it from the Side Bar, you can now directly switch an app into a floating window (the contextual menu to swipe from the edge of the screen).

Xiaomi has also included a “voice trigger” in the photo app, which allows you to take a picture by saying “Cheese” aloud.

Performance of the Xiaomi 13 Pro

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, as well as up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The first thing to mention is the significant performance improvement between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and its predecessor. As a result, the graphics are easily outperformed by the Xiaomi 13 Pro.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro comes with a triple camera module that includes a 50.3 MP main lens, a 50 MP ultra wide-angle lens, and a 50 MP telephoto lens. The selfie camera has a 32 MP resolution.

The main lens on the Xiaomi 13 Pro is the same as on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, with a 1-inch Sony IMX 989 sensor. With 4-in-1 pixel binning, we get 12.5 MP images with relatively large 3.2 m photosites. The level of detail and sharpness is excellent. It also allows for x2 zooming from the main lens to limit losses. The dynamic range is also well managed, particularly when using the Leica Authentic mode.

Battery for Xiaomi 13 Pro

The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a 4,820 mAh battery that supports wired fast charging at 120 watts, wireless charging at 50 watts, and reverse wireless charging at 10 watts.

Xiaomi has stated unequivocally that its Xiaomi 13 Pro is more durable than Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, the industry standard.

When it comes to charging, Xiaomi clearly outperforms its competitors. The 120 watt wired charging is extremely fast, taking you from 0 to 100% in less than 20 minutes.
